On September 28th, members from Terabridges had an eventful day at West Virginia University along with some members from the FRC team, Mars.
After arriving at the Business school of the campus, the hosts of the experience brought the members on a memorable tour of the building. On that tour, members were able to meet some real students majoring in Finance at WVU. The college students brought insight on their life at college, along with the events that brought them to choosing finance as their major. A few of those students mentioned also attempted to teach the participants on how the stock market operated.
When the guided tour came to an end, the professors/hosts of the event decided to give the team an immersive “college experience”. The team participated in a mock marketing course where they worked in groups to analyze how the Top 100 Global Brands marketed themselves. In this trial college course, all participants learned about marketing strategies such as the 3 Ps (Price, Place, & Promotion) that appear in the real world daily. As the activity came to an end, the hosts began to promote courses and opportunities offered by WVU, such as a club trip to New York businesses.
With that, the tour aspect of the visit ended and the team had an extravagant Chick Fil A lunch! During that meal, members of Terabridges sat down with the current captain of Mars, Daniel. He explained background knowledge of their team, such as the award they won back in 2017 for their extraordinary outreach. Mars then shared possible Outreach events and considerations that could benefit Terabridges as well. Overall, the information brought from the older FRC team greatly helped the future of Terabridges for this season and on.
